Justin Langer is set to name Tim Paine as his ODI captain on Tuesday for the series in England in June. Paine is a very experienced captain and someone Langer has high praise for having coached him when batting coach with Australia in 2009 to 2011.
Paine and Aaron Finch seem likely to be captain and vice captain in the ODI series. Paine and back up keeper Alex Carey both seem highly likely to tour England in June. Fast bowlers Pat Cummins may miss the tour as he looks to recover along with Mitch Starc both recovering from injuries.
Tim Paine the test skipper will later in the year lead Australia to UAE for a test series vs Pakistan (2 tests) before a home summer with test matches against India (4 tests) and Sri Lanka (2 tests)
It’s been a remarkable return for Tim Paine who has impressed over the last 8 months with form and skill after not playing tests and One Day Internationals for over 6 years.
Australia’s tour of England starts on June 13, 5 ODIs and a T20.
