After Australia won the series in South Africa 2-1 in 2014 it is vital Australia find there form quickly in SA this time given it’s a new squad having not played a lot Cricket together until the recent 4-0 Ashes series victory.
The keys to victory will be Steve Smith and David Warner scoring runs but also important for the lower and middle order to contribute runs during a testing series Australia has struggled to win outside Australia but this series could be key to starting a trend of winning away Test series as the conditions are as close to those in Australia one warm up match has been scheduled for late this week leading to the follow weeks first test. David Warner still New Zealand arrives by next weekend ahead of the 1st Test.
Tim Paines recent Test series performance in the Ashes gives Australia the edge in what will be a vital series of South Africa Keeper Quinton De Kock recovers in time from a finger injury to take his place in the 1st or 2nd test match. Paine is very experienced at 33 years of age will again look to lead from the front with the keeping gloves in a series that marks his 1st Test Series away from home since 2010 series in India.
